Let's make our community a better place!
We are the ALL-VOLUNTEER Lancaster Township Fire Department and we need your help. Today we’re starting our capital fund drive to provide the funds necessary for a number of extremely expensive improvements needed to provide fire protection to your homes, apartments and businesses. We’re planning for the future and we want you to have the best firefighting facilities and equipment available. We have two major capital improvement projects that need your assistance.
Please HELP us help you. The volunteers who serve you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, appreciate the funding you provide for our 2020 Capital Fund Drive.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of those in our community. Your contribution today helps us make a difference.
In late 2018 the LTFD invested in the purchase of a new 95 foot Tower Ladder unit. This replaced a 1998 truck that served us well but was due for replacement. The new ladder truck can reach out and access all of the roofs and windows of every structure in the township, and is required by insurance underwriters to keep our ratings low. Low ratings result in property insurance savings for YOU!
The new ladder truck cost us $1 MILLION! Your capital contribution will allow us to reduce the debt on this unit. The truck is already in service protecting you everyday. With the explosive rise in the cost of new firetrucks, we are proud that we have an aggressive replacement plan that keeps our fleet in service and ready at all times. Your contribution goes right to the funding of these units.
We have also undertaken a major building project to replace our two aging fire stations with one modern firehouse centrally located in the middle of the township. This project will allow us to keep all of our fire apparatus and manpower in one new station, resulting in more efficient use of our resources.
The two existing stations both require extensive maintenance and repairs to keep them open. It is far more economical to build one new energy efficient firehouse that will serve Lancaster Township for generations to come. The two existing firehouses were both designed in the 1950’s and sit in residential neighborhoods. We’re going to move and consolidate a public safety center that is designed to serve you for many years.
